Sorry it has been so long since our last update.

We've been busy preparing the next releases and prioritising things for the journey ahead based on feedback received. 2025 started off productive, but things slowed down into the second half due to personal commitments.

Some of you have asked about Maian Responder. We decided to postpone the release of Maian Responder so that we could add some new features based on late feedback we received from our beta testers, but it is now ready and will be released soon.

We will be publishing some updates very soon for most of our scripts. For information on the latest updates, you can check any of the script websites for the current update changelog. All the coming updates will include a brand new dark theme, which is not something that we've received too much feedback about, but we have implemented anyway. Hope you like it.

We have 3 new scripts in development, details about these will appear as soon as information is available. The very long awaited release for Maian Events is also nearing completion, however Maian Cart remains on hold for the moment while we decide on a new direction for that script.

Finally, A.I tools are a driving force for most companies at the moment. We already utilise them to great effect here at Maian Media, so no doubt A.I will find it's way into our scripts at some point. It is not however a priority at the moment.

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new web portal at maianmedia.com for all our scripts. This new look ties in with our product websites. Also, the main focus the last few months has been our new backend control panel and this is also now complete. This enables us to better manage our products.

New Account Area

Previously our licence system was a separate system at maiangateway.com. The new account area is now a part of the web portal for better integration. Any login / account details remain the same.

New Product Prices

Effective immediately are our new product and white label prices, many of which are a 50% reduction on the previous prices. We think these better reflect what we offer. We feel our little self hosted projects still have some target audience, so enjoy the discounts.

New Script Versions (PHP7 & New Template Engine)

All our products, including the free ones will soon have new versions released. We apologise for the delay. Please note that the new versions have two significant changes:

- PHP7 is no longer supported, the min version will be PHP8. PHP8 offers better security and features and we prefer not to support older versions. Also, the new template engine (below) does not support older versions.

- All our scripts have finally been upgraded to a new template engine. The Nette template engine (nette.org) offers better security in a more modern interface and replaces the Savant3 template engine which we have used for many years. To be honest, Savant3 has been a great and easy to use engine, but is now discontinued and therefore we need to move on. Please note that this will reset the templates for all scripts and previous themes saved will not be compatible. We apologise for this inconvenience.

Support Forum

The support forum has been discontinued, please see our suport page for support options, going forward this will probably be updated.

New Affiliate System

Is coming soon and will be launched when ready. Script updates are our main priority now.

Maian Checkout Discontinued

This software has been removed from our system due to Verifones test / dev account policies. It's not worth the hassle.

As the new portal was our main focus we've put a few updates on hold apart from any security updates. Some products are a little out of date at the moment, but will soon have updates to bring them up to date, sorry for the delay.

The support forum will also finally be removed in favour of newer support options. Our forum is old and it's time to finally bid it farewell. The new portal will detail the support options when it opens.

We don't think we need to mention the impact globally that Covid-19 has had. It's been a crazy time when everything got turned on its head. A time when people lost loved ones and businesses suffered. In some way we have all been impacted with the 'new normal' and coming to terms with what has happened. Our thoughts are with you all.

As times are changing, we thought it was time for a change and so from today, Maian Script World is now Maian Media. Nothing too exciting we know, but any positive news seems to be exciting these days, no matter how small.

**HOW DOES THE CHANGE AFFECT ME?**

It doesn't. Your licences remain the same if you purchased one. There are no changes to software licences.

**WHY THE NAME CHANGE?**

No real reason other than the new name is better suited to plans we have going forward. Plus it's shorter and easier to write. lol.

Development on the new updates is going well. Most new versions are now in the testing phases, so releases as soon as possible. The new Maian Media/Maian Media portal is completed and that will launch around the same time as the first updates. New websites for all software will go live in the future as they are not priority at the moment.

There will also be a new version for Maian Recipe, which may please some of you. Nothing major, but the new version has a responsive frontend and supports PHP8. All code has been revised and updated and old code/plugins removed. It's the first revamp for quite awhile. It of course remains free.

There are other changes on the way. The affiliate system will be discontinued and a new affiliate system will replace it, along with better mailing options for anyone wanting to receive updates.

A severe vulnerability has been kindly reported to us by security advisor DreyAnd. The issue concerns the elFinder file manager plugin in Maian Cart and it affects all versions from 3.0 to 3.8. This issue will be made public in 2 weeks, so please update your installations.

The issue enables a potential hacker to bypass the cart admin restrictions and execute a RCE (remote code execution) on your server. It should be considered high risk and be fixed immediately. If you are running a version older than 3.0, you are not affected.

The elFinder file manager plugin had already been removed in the upcoming 3.9 release of Maian Cart (it was removed before the issue was reported), so future versions will always be safe. To make your existing installation secure simply delete the following directory from your installations of Maian Cart.

admin/control/classes/_elfinder/

If you were using the download manager in your admin area, simply manage the downloads via ftp.

Maian Media would like to thank DreyAnd for his discretion in reporting this issue. As mentioned previously, you have 2 weeks to secure your installations before the issue is made public.

Updates should roll out here at Maian Media towards the end of the year with all commercial software updates in progress. With regards to the light ecommerce series, Maian Sage was recently acquired by Opayo, but this shouldn't affect Maian Sage. The software will be updated to reference Opayo.

There may be other changes in the coming months which we are just considering at the moment, including a brand new checkout experience for Maian Media products and also a new affiliate system. All data will also be moved to new servers in the coming weeks. New websites are also in progress as Maian Media rebrands as Maian Media. Not too sure how all this will pan out at the moment, so interesting times ahead to cap an already interesting year. :)

Finally, our thoughts go out to anyone who lost loved ones on 9/11. Today will be a time to reflect for many and we send love to you all.

If you are using Authorize.net you must update your installation and update the signature key, which is generated in your Authorize.net control panel. Previously in Maian Cart this would have been the value of a MD5 hash, but this must now be an actual signature key. See the docs for assistance. Please do not just change the key in your existing installation, the core files must also be updated as they contain API changes related to the Authorize.net gateway. This update removes support for the AIM/SIM methods which are soon to be deprecated. No other gateways are affected.
