New Member Creation

Very nice application, installation was super easy per the instructions. I have the email working and I have the default pages and packages as came with that installation. I can add a new member from within Admin CP and login with those credentials but a new member cannot create account from "Create Account" or  "". When attempted I get "System Message - An error occured. Please try again.." When attempting to create account I select the default "Demo Fixed Package".
I have done the installation twice and still the same problem ... I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?
