Even though Disqus is the most widespread comment system I have never cared for it much.
Now I am having trouble accessing comments once again.
The infamous "We were unable to load Disqus. If you are a moderator please see our troubleshooting guide." is displaying.
And clicking on the "see troubleshooting guide link" just clocks and goes nowhere.

So, what I have done is replaced the script in the file "disqus.htm" that referenced Disqus with script for the comment system Intense Debate.
I was so very pleasantly surprised that this is all it took!

I still have a value for Disqus Shortname to make the comments active but that is it!

So far so good. Thanks for making it so easy David !

I was just going to post a similar topic.
I am looking for an alternative, as I think Disqus is a load of ***BLEEP***.
I keep getting that "We were unable to load Disqus. If you are a moderator please see our troubleshooting guide." message, and when I added the bit of amendment to the Java code it just sent me back to the Disqus homepage.

I ended up deleting my Disqus account, but in the mean time I am left with a blog where people are unable to comment.
So, where do I go from here?
