If i use my own custom homepage and set it as the landing page then the latest ticker news will not display unless I change the setting in "defined.inc.php" like this :

define('NEWS_TICKER_DISPLAY_PREF', 0);

which of course is display ticker on all pages.  If I set it to "1", which is to display only on the opening page, which is what I desire,  then the ticker does not display on any page.  If I use the default home page everything works as documented.

I have a few custom pages.
the news ticker is set to

however, the news only displays on some custom pages and not others?
I have looked at source code for a page that works and one that doesn't
thye code looks the same to me, her is part of the code that doesnt work, (my custom homepage)

Looking at each page, it seems that the dotted line around the news box is only showing the top dotted line on the page that deosnt work.

Any clues where to look to fix this pls
